Stewed Lentils (brown) (2)
Lentil is one of the healthiest foods since it contains high levels of protein, and sufficient levels of essential amino acids. It is usually mixed with grains such as rice producing a complete protein dish. This is the Palestinian way of cooking lintel.

1/2 cup rice |

2 cups lentils |

1/2 cup oil, salt |

2 finely chopped large onions, |

 |
boil lentils in double their measure in water until nearly done. |
|
 |
Add rice and salt, stir, cover, and cook until both lentils and rice are tender. |

Fry onions to a rich brown and toss into the lentils with the oil. |

Stir and simmer for another 5 minutes, then it would be ready to hot or cold. |
