Make a mixture of flour, butter, and water and place into a food processor or with a fork until crumbly. |

Stir in water gradually until dough can be easily shaped into a ball. |

Wrap dough with a plastic cover. |

Allow to chill for 60 minutes. |

Heat oven at 400°F. |

Lightly flour a flat surface—like a tabletop—then roll out all dough on it. |

Place the rolled dough gently onto a pie pan. |

 |
Use a fork to prick the dough. |
|
 |
Place pan in preheated oven and bake for 10 minutes. |

Remove from oven and lower oven heat to 325°F. |

Place a saucepan with butter (or margarine) over heat to fry onion until translucent. |

Add salmon, chives, garlic, and basil to onion. Stir well. |

Remove from flame and allow to cool. |

Place the salmon mixture in the shell of pastry. |

Prepare a topping by beating eggs, milk, and some pepper to season. |

 |
Pour liquid topping over salmon mixture. |
|
 |
Place in preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes until puffed. |

Remove the golden salmon quiche. |
|
 |
Before serving, allow to cool for 10 to 15 minutes. |
