Semi-Short Bread with Plums

To make 18 to 24 squares of this recipe, you need :  
1 lb. fresh purple plums  
4 tbsp. butter or margarine, softened  
1 egg, lightly beaten  
1 egg yolk  
1/2 c. sour cream  
1/4 c. powdered sugar  
1/2 c. powdered sugar (for topping)  
1/4 to 1/2 c. powdered sugar (for sprinkling)  
1/2 c. sour cream  
1 tsp. vanilla or almond extract  
2 c. all-purpose flour  
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder  
1/2 tsp. salt

Heat oven at 375°F.
Wash plums. Shred in half.
Scoop undesired and inedible pits. Set plums aside.
Prepare dressing by combining powdered sugar, sour cream, and vanilla or almond extract in a mixing bowl. Mix together.
Make a mixture of flour, baking powder, small pieces of butter, powdered sugar, and salt in a separate bowl.
Keep mixing until texture is similar to that of large bread crumbs.
Add egg, egg yolk, and sour cream to flour mixture. Blend thoroughly until well mixed and light.
Grease a baking pan then dust with flour.
Unfold mixture evenly on baking pan.
Now insert plum halves onto dough and press gently without pushing them far inside.
Place 1 tsp. dressing on each plum half.
Place pan in oven on middle rack and bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
Remove from oven when bread is golden brown.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Before serving, cut into squares.
