Red Cabbage with Apples


In Austria, red cabbage is a most favorite dish included on lunch tables as a side dish. It adds a festive flavor to celebrations and holidays, such as Christmas. Households add apples to sweeten this already tasty dish.
المقادير
2 tbsp. vegetable oil  
1 1/2tbsp. flour  
1 head red cabbage  
1 small onion  
4 to 6 whole cloves  
1 1/2 tbsp. sugar  
1 large green apple  
2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar  
طريقه التحضير
Cut apple into quarters. Peel onion then cut into quarters. Chop cabbage into tiny pieces.
In a large bowl, make a mixture of cabbage, onion, vinegar, 1 or 2 tbsp. sugar, cloves, apple, and oil.
Cover the bottom of the bowl with enough amount of water. Then boil.
Cook for 1 hour, or until soft and tender.
Prevent the food from sticking to the bottom by adding boiling water if necessary.
Before serving, sift flour and remaining sugar over the mixture.
