Plum and Rhubarb Soup is a favorite dish for both children and adults. It is served as a nice treat either as a delicious hot soup at the beginning of a meal or as a sweet cold dessert after dinner.

You can substitute cornstarch for flour. |

After you wash fruit well, scoop out any undesired pits and inedible seeds from plums. |

Remove ends and tops of rhubarb. |

Cut fruit into crumbs. |

Make a mixture of fruit, water, cloves, cinnamon, and sugar in a large kettle. |

Bring the mixture to a boil, then cover. Reduce heat, and cook for 12 to 15 minutes. |

Use a spoon to take cloves and cinnamon off the kettle. |

Transfer half of the fruit portion into a large mixing bowl. |

Use a fork to pound this half thoroughly. |

In another cup, put 1 c. cold water together with flour. |

When you make a thick paste, add it to the pounded fruit. |

Return fruit to kettle. |

Once soup boils, remove from heat and allow to rest for 3 or 4 minutes. |

Decorate with sour cream on top. Serve hot or cold. |
