Kashata


Widely prepared by households throughout East Africa, Kashata is a wonderful treat for a perfect holiday time.

To prepare 20 balls of Kashata, you need:  
unsalted peanuts, chopped into tiny pieces  
2/3 c. sugar  
1/2 tsp. cinnamon  
1/2 lb grated coconut  
طريقه التحضير
Place sugar in a pan over heat for about 10 to 15 minutes until melted, or until dark-brown in color and syrupy in consistency. Stirring constantly.
Add cinnamon and the coconut or peanuts and mix well.
Simmer for about 2 minutes. When sugar has become golden, remove from the heat and allow to cool.
When cooled, shape1-inch balls with your hands and place on wax paper until set.
