Jelly Rolls (Buchteln)


المقادير
To make 16 jelly rolls, you need:  
16 pieces of frozen dinner ro  
dough, thawed for 3 hour  
1 c. plum jelly  
4 tbsp. butter, melted  
powdered sugar  
You can substitute raspberry, strawberry, or blackberry jam for plum jelly or jam.

Heat oven at 350ºF.
Butter spring-form pan and set aside.
Dust a flat surface with flour.
Place pieces of dough on the floured surface. Cover with a towel and place a warm place for about 2 hours, or until it rises high.
Use a rolling pin to roll dough pieces on a floured flat surface (like a tabletop).
Insert 1 tbsp. of jelly into the middle of each square. Moisten the edges with water, and pull up the corners, pressing gently to seal. Do same till all sides are sealed.
Transfer dough onto the greased pan. Then add enough amount of melted butter on top to brush.
Cover with a towel and allow dough to rise for 15 to 20 minutes more.
Take towel off and bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
When rolls have become lightly browned, remove from oven. Allow rolls to cool for 5 minutes in the pan. Then, transfer rolls on a wire rack to finish cooling.
Sprinkle rolls with powdered sugar. Serve.
To avoid the dish becoming rich with fat while buttering, you can brush the rolls lightly with milk or with lightly beaten egg whites.
