Honey cake is a widely beloved favorite all through Poland and other European countries.

Bring oven to 350°F heat. |

Separate eggs into yolks and whites. |
|

Beat butter in a large mixing bowl until smooth. |
|

Add egg yolks gradually, beating well after each addition. |
|

Add honey and blend thoroughly. |

Make a mixture of flour, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, and baking powder in a medium mixing bowl. |

Add flour mixture to butter mixture. Stir thoroughly. |

Beat egg whites in a medium mixing bowl. |

 |
When stiff, add egg whites to batter mixture. |

Grease and flour a loaf pan. |

Place batter into the pan and bake for about 1 hour until surface is slightly firm. |

When done, a knife or toothpick inserted into the center of the flan should come out nearly clean. |
|
 |
Remove from oven and allow to cool in pan for 8 to 10 minutes. |

 |
Remove from loaf pan to cool on a wire rack. |
|
 |
Cut cake into slices and serve in plates. |
