Grease the bottom and sides of a middle-sized cake pan and put in a preheated oven at 325°F. |

Dust the pan lightly with a very small amount of flour and set aside. |

Sift the flour, ginger, allspice, salt, baking powder, and baking soda into a bowl. |

Cream the butter and brown sugar until very soft in another bowl. |
|
 |
Add the eggs one by one to the butter, mix in the molasses, and then fold in the dry ingredients. |

Place the mixture into the prepared pan put in the oven until the top springs back when pressed lightly with your fingertips or for an hour. |

 |
Remove it from the oven and let it to cool before serving it. |
