Cornstarch is one of the basic components in traditional cuisine in Brazil. It is included in several savory dishes, cookies, and sweets favored by both chil¬dren and adults as good treats.

Bring oven to 375˚F heat. |

Make a mixture of cornstarch, sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl. |

Add egg and mix in softened butter with your hands. Leave aside for 15 minutes. |

Lightly butter a cookie sheet. |

Shape dough into small balls, transfer onto cookie sheet and press down smoothly. |

Bake dough for 14 to 17 minutes. When done, cookie will be golden in color. |

Cool cookie on the cookie sheet before. Transfer onto a wire rack to cool completely. |

If you wish, you can add 2 oz. grated coconut to the dough when you add the butter. |
