Butter Cookies


This recipe is best served in shapes (stars, bells, or hearts) and very admired at holidays. Colored icing can be added on to as a nice treat

To make 4 to 5 dozen, you need:  
1 c. softened butter  
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract  
4 c. flour  
1 c. sugar  
3 eggs at room temperature

Preheat oven to 375°F
Use a spoon to mix butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla into a large bowl. Add flour gradually and keep stirring until the pastry is smooth.
Divide dough into third sections evenly.
Dust flat surface of table and rolling pin with about 2 tbsp for rolling.
Roll out one-third on the dusted surface then cut into shapes using cookie cutters dipped in flour. Do the same steps with the other two dough thirds.
After finishing with shaping with the cutters, try to collect the small leftover dough pieces and roll into a ball.
Transfer cookie carefully from flat surface on baking sheets that were not greased.
Bake for 7 to 10 minutes until you notice the edges of cookie start to get a brownish color.
Allow to cool on a wire rack. Make sure you preserve the cookies in a container with a loose lid to allow good airing.
