Brown Lentils and Rice
Megadarra is a delicious famous recipe in the Middle East countries especially in Egypt and morocco and is often served with plain yogurt

5 tbsp. olive oil |

7 c. vertically sliced onions |

 |
4 1/2 c. water |
|
 |
1 1/4 c. rinsed lentils, |
|
 |
1 1/4 c. long-grain rice |
|
 |
1 tsp. salt |
|
 |
Dash of pepper |

Sauté onion in some preheated oil till caramelized with stirring constantly |

Parboil lentils for 20 minutes in salted water |
|
 |
Put half of the onion, with some uncooked rice and seasoning in a pan and cook for half an hour |
|
 |
Serve the rice mixture in a flat serving dish topped with the boiled black lentils and then sprinkle the remaining part of the caramelized onion |
