Baklava is a tasty classic dessert that can be brought ready-made from the bakery, as it happens in Turkey. Still you can easily prepare the recipe at home.

To make syrup, you need:
1 lb. sugar
1 c. water
1 tbsp. rose water
Instead of walnuts, you can use pistachios, or finely-cut almonds, |

Start with making syrup: mix water with sugar in a saucepan and put over heat until boils. |

Reduce heat and cook for 9:10 minutes, then add rose water. Keep stirring and set aside. |

Bring the oven to 400°F heat. |
|

Prepare a square baking dish lined with a sheet of aluminum foil. Brush olive oil on the sheet with a pastry brush. |

Spread phyllo dough on sheet then coat with melted butter. |
|
 |
Top with next layer of phyllo dough. Coat the top and add another layer. Keep adding and coating for 3 layers more. |

Sprinkle the fifth layer with chopped nuts. |
|
 |
Use the same way to add extra five assembled layers of dough brushing each with butter. |

Spread remaining nuts onto the top of all layers. |
|
 |
Top with next 5 layers of phyllo dough brushing each with butter. |

Cut pastry with a sharp knife into squares |

Make sure you trim any excess dough that may overlap sides of pan. |

Place into oven for 32 to 39 minutes until you get a golden surface then remove from oven. |

Brush surface with butter then pour rose water syrup then leave to cool and serve. |
|
Since the recipe uses ready-made phyllo dough, you should move the frozen phyllo dough to the refrigerator to allow it thaw completely one day before preparing the dish. |
