Baked Fish


المقادير
fresh dill, chopped  
seasoning  
8 white fish fillets (such as cod, halibut, or flounder), fresh or frozen and thawed, about 2 lb.  
2 onions, peeled and sliced into rings  
3 tbsp. lemon juice  
2/3 to 1 c. flour  
1/2 c. mayonnaise or sour cream  
1/2 c. grated Gruyère or white cheddar chees  
5 tbsp. unsalted butter

Heat the oven at 375°F.
Wash fish fillets with cold water.
Place in a dish. Sprinkle with seasoning and lemon juice then rub well. Set aside for 15 minutes.
Roll fillets in flour in a dish until lightly coat.
Heat 3 tbsp. of butter in a frying pan over medium heat.
Fry each floured fillet for 3 to 4 minutes on each side.
Place fish in a baking dish.
Melt 2 tbsp. butter in a pan over medium heat.
Add onions to pan to sauté for 5 to 10 minutes until golden.
Spread mayonnaise or sour cream over fish.
Top with onions. Sprinkle with cheese.
Bake in preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes.
When browned, remove from oven.
Garnish with dill, and serve hot.
This delicious dish is best served with boiled potatoes as a filling winter meal.
